Gorgeous

On our mile long list of things to do before our trip was to get haircuts for everyone. I have been asking around to my friends who have boys when I should be getting Leo's haircut. "When it starts bothering you," was the consensus. Since it started bothering Bubbie, I decided to go for it. Actually, since it started bothering Bubbie, I sent Bubbie to take Leo for his first haircut and it turned out that staying away was a smart thing. As for Amelia's hair, I had been going back and forth on whether I should have bangs cut. I trusted Bubbie once again and the haircut is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen. I knew I could stare at Amelia's face forever, but now I dont have to push her hair out of her eyes ever other minute. Kristen asked for pictures and here they are.

The FACE!

Leo started making the funniest face over the last week or so. I remember it starting when I tried to clean his nose. Leo would bring his lips up to his nose, as a way of blocking it or something. Now, he just does it, and we cant get enough of it. What's cuter than ever is that he does it on request. Amelia (and the rest of us) like to join in too.

Garden Fresh

Ever since Garden Fresh - our home away from home - moved into the new building, Amelia uses her own shopping cart when we are there. It is a mini shopping cart that is just her size and Amelia counts on it as part of her shopping experience. If we dont see one with the big shopping carts, I ask the nice man if he can find one for us - it is *that* important. Anyway...tonight we picked up a few things for the week; I had some groceries in my cart, but the majority of things were in Amelia's cart. When I got into line, I put my things on the conveyer belt and Amelia followed me and started putting hers up there as well. Amelia was still putting her things on the conveyer when I heared the cashier say to me, "$3.71 please." I look up and the cashier had stopped where my things ended and Amelia's began, as if it was a separate order. I know it will be sooner than I want to think that Amelia will start doing all the shopping, but let's not push it.

Yesterday and Today

Note to self: No matter how cute the picture is, noone needs to know about my makeshift laundry shoot.

The best reasons to come home

This summer I will be actually leaving the house and going to work two days a week. Really. Monday I had a super long day and then something at night, so I didnt get home till after dinner. I thought today was going to be a "normal" day, but 30 minutes before leaving from my first day on the job, someone I had just met this morning came in to tell me that my car window had been completely smashed, in an attempt to steal my GPS. Fun end to the day? Not really. Did I make some fast friends? Definitely. The only thing I can be thankful for is that the thumderstorms that are going on right now waited until my windowless car made it into the garage. When I got home, Amelia was super tired (not grumpy, she told me, just tired!!) and Leo was, well, Leo. My exhaustion level is way up there and my patience, on the other extreme. It is on these days that I remember what this blog is for and how utterly delicious and sweet my children are...most of the time, atleast.

May 13...

Six years ago, I gave my mom the best Mothers Day gift ever - a wedding! She didn't have to cook or clean and the food was amazing. This is the first year since our wedding that Mothers Day and our anniversary have fallen on the same day. Kinda cute, kinda busy. We had a Mothers Day brunch at Becca's with a suprise cake for Danny and me. We came home and everyone in the house, but me, took an overly ambitious nap, waking up only shortly before dinner time. Danny and I went for some yummy "Noodles" and we came home and cleaned up for the week. Danny and I didn't do gifts this year (we chose groceries, instead), but I did get some comfy shoes - that I would never have treated myself to - for Mothers Day and some of the cutest blue handprints that have been framed and are ready to hang on the wall. The shoes and the stuff from Amelia were wonderful and all of that, but I am lucky enough to wake up to three very special - and priceless - gifts every single day.

Where do I start?

8:30am...
We leave our house and head to the Israel Solidarity Walk to meet Becca and the boys. Jackets in tow, we find ourselves freezing our tushes off and losing our hearing to the music of Rabbi Joe Black. Carnival #1 - check.

3:30pm...
We head to the Lag Ba'Omer BBQ hosted by Chabad, ready for the best time *ever*. Not a minute goes by before Amelia's shoes are off and she is sliding down the moonwalk thing-a-majig. Leo attempted to go in there, but watching him being trampled on by big kids was not my idea of a good time. Once the boys came, the real fun began. Who needs food? Flinstone bumper cars (you are supposed to drive with your feet like old Fred and Barney) had them quite entertained, of course it was the Daddies who did all the work. We did some spin art, bubbles, and some more sliding before the evening was through. We did take a break to have a raffle and read some verses with the Rabbi. Amelia wanted to practice for next year so she joined the Rabbi on stage for a while. I couldn't take the arctic temperatures any longer so we left...to put the kids straight into bed. It had been a long day. Carnival #2 - check.

7:10pm - 5 minutes from the house...
I notice an inflatable fire truck outside our favorite conversation piece - the Fire Station down the street from our house. Danny turns the car around and we ask what is going on. Turns out, they are having an open house with ice cream and tours of the station. Who needs a bedtime? We park the car and the kids mingle with the firemen, of course calling Becca to let her know what we are up to. The boys soon join us and they all slide a few more times, have some ice cream, test out the fire pole and tour some of the fire trucks and ambulences. Carnival #3 - as unplanned as ever - check.
