Her Own Style...

When Amelia goes into her closet and gets completely dressed without me having to lift a finger, she gets to wear whatever the heck she wants. I actually don't think she looks half bad, but I am sure some of the other moms were wondering what I was thinking. This wont be the last time, I can promise you that :)

School Boy

Today was Leo's first real day, with routine's, rules and lots of structure! Leo did so well and I was smiling the whole time...from across the room, of course. It was great because he knew I was there, but he also knew that it wasn't time for us to play or for him to ask me questions about where things go or how to make his colored apple. Even though I spend almost every minute with my kids and am lucky enough to witness so many of their "firsts" as well as their everyday discoveries, I still sit in awe of my children when they are put in new situations and all they do is excel and enjoy their experiences. I love seeing them in these different lights and I sat in the back of the classroom today remembering just how lucky I am that to be able to do that.

Eliana's Simchat Bat

Today, we had a sweet simchat bat for a very sweet little girl. The only pictures I got, however, were of my two sweeties (from the comfort of either the car or the couch). I did alot of sitting today and my kids did alot of running...I think that's going to be just how it is for the next month or so :)

Morning Time

Every morning, Leo either tells us that it is indeed "morning time" or, like this morning, that is "not morning time" and that he wants to have dinner. In any case, we are getting on a good morning routine before school and our other activities. The first thing Amelia does is take out her map and globe and quiz me, while Leo is busy watching "my TB" :)

Leo's First Day of School

Leo started school on Thursday and he absolutely loved it. They split the class for the first day, so it was Leo and four little girls and it didn't phase him one bit. I sat back the whole time and the only issue Leo had was that when school was over, we had to leave. Next week, we start on a semi-regular schedule and it works out perfectly that the week I am expecting the newest little pisher, this big one gets to go to school all by himself. And yes, they do grow up (a little too) fast.

Our Day

Yesterday, all I had planned for today was to take Leo to the ENT and rush back to get Amelia to school. Not so glamorous, but it had to be done. When I was told last night that Amelia's school was cancelled because the building was flooded, I could not have been more relieved. So, instead, this is how we spent our day:

9am: Called ENT and asked if they could squeeze Amelia in after Leo's appt - they agreed.
10:30am: Arrived at ENT on time for our 10:30am appointment
11:30am: Finally got to see the ENT - grrr
12:00pm: Had lunch and played at McDonald's
1:00pm: Visited with friends and their new baby, so cute!!
2:00pm: Headed to the Kohl Museum
2:15pm: Remembered that the Kohl Museum closes at Noon on Mondays...just as I was about to pull in
2:30pm: Went to the park across the street from the Kohl Museum
3:50pm: Picked up Noah from school
4:00pm: Made our second trip to McDonald's for ice cream and apple pies
4:30pm: Home to play a little
7:00pm: Got ready for bed and remembered that we left Yellow Carebear at Bubbie and Zadie's house
7:15pm: Told Leo about what happened and watched the eyes well up and the lips start to quiver
7:30pm: Got into the car to retreive Yellow from B&Z's
8:00pm: Stopped at Goodwill on the way home
8:15pm: Schlepped a sleeping Amelia up to bed only to realize that I had forgotten to put her sheets back on...
8:30pm: Finally got everyone into their own bed and closed their door...

11:00pm: Danny gets home from a night out on the town (kinda) and it's off to bed. I wonder what tomorrow will bring...:)

All About Amelia

Amelia's was given her first homework assignment last week which was to create the first page in a book that is "All About Amelia." We were told to make a collage of the things that represented Amelia and I think she did a great job. All colored and cut out herself, this is a perfect representation of my girl.

1. A beautiful red flower - she is in a flower stage in her art
2. A pack of markers - the girl loves to draw
3. A self-portrait of sorts and her name
4. A globe - we have a geography buff living with us
5. A picture of her and Leo...goofing as usual
6. A wrapped up KitchenAid mixer - need I explain?

Why Not?

I love this kid!

Search Warrant

The rule in this house is that Amelia is not allowed to pack anything real...food, my keys, silverware, or anything I might need one day. I know Amelia sometimes forgets when she is heavily involved in her playing, so anytime I find a bag or purse laying around, I open it up to check things out. After this discovery, I am pretty sure that I need to go over the rules with Amelia again tomorrow :)

Amelia's New Bling

Today, Amelia got her ears pierced - a long awaited reward for going to sleep nicely. I knew she would do well, but I was a little bit nervous about the actual process. As always, Amelia became good friends with the girl who did the piercing, asking a million questions about why she was cleaning this...why she was opening that, etc. The girl was extremely patient and wonderful with Amelia and it was nice to see. So, now we have six weeks of asking me when she can take out her earrings, but lucky for me, I can keep saying "when we bring baby home". Two things to look forward to ;)

Amelia's First Day of School

Today is Amelia's first day of school, a day that could not have come faster for her. Learning and playing with her friends, that's Amelia's idea of a fabulous time. I came across this pattern for a "back to school skirt" and had to make it for Amelia - how many chances does one get to make a frilly, girly skirt? Totally adorable and ready for an exciting day!
