Doing what we do best
Over the last few weeks, we have had so many visitors to our house telling us about their ventures downtown...Millennium Park, the "bean", etc. It's been wonderful to hear about, but I was getting a little tired about being the last person in Chicago to visit Millenium Park! Since school starts next week and we had nothing to do this week, I decided to take the kids downtown on the train. $3/parking and $8.60/roundtrip on the Metra and that was the whole shabang. We took an 8:05am train, walked from Union Station to Millennium Park (did I mention it was 90F today?), got our feet a little wet in the splash park, saw a concert at 10:00am, ate our PB sandwiches across from the bean, got VERY wet in the splash park, changed into our new clothes, walked 6 or so blocks to Spertus Museum to see my old friends, picked up two gifts at the beautiful Barriff Shop at Spertus, walked to Buckingham fountain and then walked back to Union Station, with a stop to a not so friendly McDonalads for some ice cold ice cream. The train ride home was loud - for everyone else, that is - but we did manage to make it back in three (very tired and sweaty) pieces.
