Oh Chanukah, Oh Chanukah...or as Leo says "Kha Kha!!!!"
I love more than anything when the kids get pure enjoyment out of the same things that I do. I really don't remember teaching Leo about Chanukah, but he has become obsessed with the idea of it - in a good way, of course. Amelia and Leo can spot a dreidle from a mile away and can sing any Chanukah song you request. They love singing, they love celebrating and I love doing it with them.
Tonight was the first major snow storm that we had to leave the house in and it took us a fairly long time to get home. It was already very late and Danny wasn't home, but I was determined to light the candles with the kids. On our way home we sang Chanukah songs and all Leo could say was "again, again." Thankfully, he enjoys Amelia's singing as much as my own so I was off the hook every few minutes.
As we were just about home, it was quiet in the car and all of a sudden, "Kha Kha!! Kha Kha!!" came out of Leo's mouth. I looked over and on the CDW building was a huge lighted display with a menorah and some other Jewish things. It was so cute because I am usually the tour guide of the family..."out of Leo's window you will see a huge firetruck...out of Amelia's, two brown dogs and a man." Leo was telling us that there was "Chanukah" out *his* window and he was so proud of himself.
We got home and lit some very enticing candles and, thankfully, the kids went right to bed afterward. It is going to be a very exciting eight days in this house and I am very much looking forward to it.
