A Day of Firsts...
Today was a day of "FIRSTs", a day to be remembered for a long time. This morning I bundled the kids up and went to the gym - the FIRST time since I was pregnant with Leo (or was it Amelia??). Amelia and Leo played in the Kids Club while I made a slight fool of myself at the STEP class. It was also the FIRST time in a long time where I felt like I could do something to better myself without needing anyone to help me do it. It was extremely liberating and it felt good to be taking care of myself for a change. I loved that the kids were waiting for me after class and we could still spend our mornings together.
Today was also the FIRST time Leo took more than a couple of steps. The look in his eyes was so incredible when he reached his destination. We laughed so hard afterwards in sheer excitement. It is somewhat bittersweet, my little baby turning into a little boy. It's ok though, we still have our little rendevous every morning at 5:00am to remind me that he does still need his mommy.
The final FIRST and, hopefully, the LAST of its kind, was me getting the front of my car smashed to pieces minutes after leaving Sams Club. Thank G-d, the kids were home with Bubbie and Zadie and not there to hear that awful sound of metal being crushed. My dad came and stayed with me while the policeman took the reports and ended up driving me home. The policeman thought it best to not drive a car with a headlight dangling around. Not sure what I would have done had my parents not been in the area. I did just go to Sams, so we did have enough food to last us till next year if need be.
