Some much needed family time...
Last night was a little crazy getting the kids to bed and Amelia woke Leo up AGAIN at 6:30am this morning (he is his Daddy's son and will at times sleep till 9am...). Despite my exhaustion, I wanted to be consistent with the sleeping arrangements, but made a point to get them to bed early and insist on them each in their own bed. It wasn't easy, but everyone was sleeping (or atleast quiet) by 7:40pm and I got into bed to call my mom. As I was talking to my mom, my dad told her that they needed to go to the basement for a Tornado warning. "I just got the kids to bed!!! agh!!" was the first thing that went through my mind. I called Becca to tell them and went to get the kids, just as the sirens started to blare. Not sure if Leo was ever asleep, but he seemed to be awake when I opened the door, Amelia was fast asleep. Leo was so cute and went right down with Danny, asking what that big noise was, and I grabbed Amelia. Because we live in a split level, our downstairs is complete with a huge sliding glass door, a window in the playroom and one in the office. Our only option is to get coverage under the stairs, wich we use for storage and our walk-in pantry. Leo made himself at home right away, Amelia was a little scared and tired and stuck with me. We entertained ourselves by looking at my extra box of cookie cutters and eating Fruit Cherrios. It was a fun 20 minutes or so, though next time, I wish they could schedule such craziness *before* bedtime.
